Should you buy a Wii U this Christmas.

The Wii U has had a rough ride in terms of sales and it isn’t helped by the problem that many people still think it is an add-on for the Wii. The Wii U is an underestimated and misunderstood console for sure, but the Wii U has been working hard against the odds for 3 years now and it has a lot going for it.

Exclusive games.

The Wii U beats the PS4 and Xbox1 hands down in regards to the exclusive line up and it’s an exclusive line up that will unquestionably make the Wii U a retro gamers favorite console in the future. Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World, Nintendoland, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Windwaker HD, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, Smash Bros, Captain Toad, Kirby & the Rainbow Curse, Yoshi’s Woolly World, The Wonderful 101, Mario Bros U, Super Mario Maker and of course SPLATOON are all well worth buying whatever kind of gamer you are.

There’s other exclusives like the Sonic games which aren’t fantastic, but are worth getting for the right gamer. Lego City Undercover is worth it for the right gamer, as is Fatal Frame Game & Wario, Mario Party and Rodea the Sky Soldier. Wii fit U for those who liked the original on the Wii is well worth it too, it’s unquestionably better in every regard, as is the Wii U’s upgrade of Wii Sports.

The E-shop

Everyone like’s the odd budget title and the Wii U’s E-shop has amassed the best indie developers out there. There’s a wide range of really impressive games, some exclusive, with a wide range of prices and frequent worthwhile special offers. There’s also the Virtual console that hosts NES SNES GBA N64 DS & Wii titles, there’s lots to pick from the library grows weekly.

The E shop offers something for everyone and there’s a clear sense of quality control. Not everything is great, there’s some rubbish of course, but if you were randomly buy a game the odds of it being a good game are high.

Christmas fun

No other console will give everyone in the house on Christmas day as much fun as the Wii U. Multiplayer remains a big thing for Nintendo and games like Mario Kart 8, Mario 3D World, Nintendoland and smash Bros offer more multiplayer madness than you can fit in the whole holiday season. Mario 3D is world is the first 3D mario adventure game that is multiplayer and it works really well.

What games should you buy?

The dream package that will offer something for everyone includes Mario Kart 8, Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros and Splatoon. Bayonetta 2 is you mature action fighter game meant for hardcore gamers, Mario 3D is the obligatory highly rated Mario game, that offers both single and multiplayer fun.

What your kids will want.

Smash Bros is sure to be high on the list and Mario Kart is always a safe bet, both give single local and online multiplayer while Smash Bros is the prime game for using Amiibo, Nintendo’s NFC models that are proving to be very popular. If you child is a fan of Skylanders than the latest one is one the Wii U with exclusive Nintendo figures. Splatoon is however the big Wii U title and a game few think they want but will become hooked too very quickly. It’s the First person shooter remade in a child friendly way that by no means alienates the older gamer who are ensuring Splatoon will almost certainly become a regular feature in the world of E sports.
